Register to donate blood

These are the main eligibility criteria for becoming a donor:

You must:

  • Be aged between 55 and 65 years of age*
  • Weigh more than 50 kg and have normal blood pressure and heart rate
  • Be a resident of the UK
  • Be registered with a UK General Practitioner (GP)
  • Be able to prove your identity and age when attending each appointment
  • Have a UK Bank Account
  • Be able to give informed consent and fully understand the medical questionnaire on every appointment
  • All medications are allowable but please ensure you advise the medical team at pre-screening what you are taking

You cannot donate if:

  • You have ever been treated for Cancer
  • You have been diagnosed with AIDS/HIV, Hepatitis B or C or any other blood borne infectious disease
  • You have any medical problems like asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, anaemia or any condition associated with excessive blood loss
  • You have used recreational drugs/drugs of abuse within the previous 6 weeks
  • You have consumed alcohol in the 24 hours before your appointment
  • You have donated blood anywhere else within the previous 4 months
  • You have had any tattoos or body piercings in the last 4 months

All information provided to us is kept in strict confidentiality, and never shared with anyone else.
